Introduction

① Gas velocity

The movement of gas in the dust system is mainly achieved by velocity of air flow. The gas velocity gradually increases along the tangent direction of the cylinder, and reaches the maximum value when airflow reaches the top of the cone. For particles with size over  10mm, the gas velocity can reach 35m/s; For particles with size less than 10mm, the gas velocity is about 25m/s. 25m/s-35m/s is the maximum efficiency range adopted by many designers when designing dust collectors.

② Wind pressure

The total pressure of the dust system is mainly composed of the static pressure of the air inlet, the dynamic pressure of the exhaust port and the resistance. The resistance is determined by the shape and roughness of the cylinder. At certain temperature, the absolute pressure P of the gas is inversely proportional to the volume flow q, that is, P1/q1=k1, here k1 is the proportional coefficient. Since the static pressure of the air inlet can overcome part of the resistance, the total pressure of the centrifugal dust collector is lower than that of the axial flow type.

③ Wear resistance

The wear resistance of the cyclone dust collector directly affects the service life of the equipment. Generally speaking, the larger the particles, the greater the density, and the more sticky the surface of the material, the greater the wear resistance. Therefore, when designing a cyclone dust collector, it is necessary to consider the physical properties of the dust and the properties of the dust-laden gas.

④ Particle size

Particle size is one of the basic characteristic parameters for particle.  Taking solid particles in the air as an example, particle size refers to the ratio of the volume of solid particles within a certain particle size range to the overall volume of particles of that particle size. The size of solid particles not only affects the specific surface area of the adsorbent, but also affects process of adsorption and catalytic. Therefore, the particle size distribution of the dust needs to be considered when designing a cyclone dust collector.

Summary of design formula for cyclone dust collector

1. Filtration rate: G = 200 ~ 800L / min

2. Gas flow rate: Q1 = (38 – P1 / K1) × V1

3. Gas load: P2 = (200-600 Pa)

4. Separation efficiency: e = 95% ~ 99%

5. Dust collection efficiency: φ = 100% ~ 98%

6. Pressure drop: △p = 0.396 KPa ~ 0.684 KPa

7. Allowable pressure loss: △p<0.296KPa
